Hi Kevin,
Your mod seems to be a good solution. However I am concern about the higher 
stiffness
of the 5/8" fiberglass rod at extreme deflection such as in case of a flat
tyre. Did you test this condition? How many hours have you flown with this
mod? Where did you purchase the fiber glass rod?
