Strikes me as unlikely to be useful.
Low voltage is the result of either:
- an open circuit in the regulator; the battery takes over
automatically, or:
- (less likely) a short in the regulator - the battery will make the
fuse in the B-lead pop; the battery takes over automatically.
The device would take the role of the fuse I suppose.
And you still need overvoltage detection and relay.
Maybe you should become a member of the Aeroelectric list of Bob Nuckols
(also a Matronics list) and ask him what he thinks.
He is loves this stuff and is knowledgeable and pretty eloquent.
