A few suggestions:
1. Make access panels in the firewall above the footwell. Layer the panel
with stainless on the engine side. The panel is absolutely invaluable to
reach and work on the inside of the panel module without having to
remove it from aircraft.
2. Plan ahead that there will be times where removal of the instrument
panel will necessary. fixed wires running through to the engine area will
preclude that. The safest, most reasonable approach is to use multipin,
metal shell circular amphenol connectors
