any ideas?
Graeme - why not buy a piece of solid aluminium bar and drill & tap the ends
10-32
UNC? There's plenty of online metal suppliers if you cant find anyone local.
I have used:
http://www.metalandplastic.co.uk
http://www.mallardmetals.co.uk
http://www.nogginend.com
https://www.metals4u.co.uk
http://www.glrkennions.co.uk (worth visiting this website for the little
Walschaert gear animation alone!)
http://www.chronos.ltd.uk
for various sorts of metal supplies in the past and have been generally
satisfied
with all of them.
If you dont have a lathe that can swallow, for centre-drilling, the size of
round
bar you need, have a search for model engineering societies in your area. They
can often find a member with a well-equipped workshop very happy to tackle
one-offs like this, usually in return for some bottled muscle relaxant.
Hope this helps.
