All good info, thanks. I was debating covering the opening with cling film, and then applying a bead of high modulus sikaflex around the mating faces of the tank cap, then loosely fitting it in position before it sets. Theory being that it will make a fuel proof rubber seal that will remain on the cap and not adhere to the airframe as it sets.
