I used a small split pin covered in heat shrink - insert split pin into hole and
attach a small key ring holding a Remove Before Flight flag (free key fob from
Jeppesen (other free key fobs are available...))

I use a luggage strap with a rubber tube over the end which tensions a Remove
Before
Flight flag. The flag has a pin which slides into the stall warning hole
in the LE. Makes it highly unlikely to forget it as it locks the ailerons as
well.
Roddys plane is parked outside in a large expanse of grass, hence is more likely
to have insect infestation.
