Thank you all for the advice. 
Good point made by Kevin Dilks re free flow of oil. I have fitted this type of
drain valve to other aircraft and it does make an oil change much less messy.
I have always worked on the premise that the easier a job is to complete the 
better.
The less they will be put off to a later date.
