Weld it. You won't be the first to have it welded. When I had exactly your kind
of exhaust system, it cracked in that location more than once, so I just paid
for the services of a good welder.
Furthermore since CKT in the UK went out of business after making a different
Europa
specific exhaust for several years, owners will have little choice but to
weld. Installing the Rotax "standard" exhaust won't be an option for many, due
to space constraints underneath the engine.
If the authorities balk at welding, and they do, then several aircraft could end
up being grounded pending a redesign of the exhaust system. IMHO if you have
a good quality electronic CO detector alarm in the cockpit and regularly check
for exhaust cracks, then the risk becomes almost negligible.
