Truth be told I've found the speaker on the Icom to be quite loud enough to use
on just about any general aviation aircraft without a headset. It certainly is
not ideal but it's one less thing to fiddle with in an abnormal situation. If
all I intended to do was to re-enter the traffic pattern (circuit) and land
its perfectly fine for that without a headset.
