For finding the centre of the spinner backing plate, try using a record-playing turntable; if you can find someone who still has one! This has the advantage over a lathe in that the edges of the spinner will not be distorted by the chuck and you can play around with getting the best compromise on the centre ( or concentric rings around it) Rgds.
