Take heart from this....   a nearby building team (who must remain nameless)
were doing taxying trials when  they "inadvertently found themselves
committed to a first flight". They got it back on the ground after a circuit
without any problem, though they hadn't quite the nerve to raise the u/c
during the action. They do say you should take a map with you when doing
taxying trials.
