Gut, danke, unt dir? Hoffentlich kommen wir 23 Juni.

Glad that your taxi trials are going well.
Your under cowling temps are not unusual. Have you enlarged the cooling air
outlet? It is partly blocked by the silencer and not really big enough unless
modified. I am sure, however that your engine will cool OK in flight.

The best way to prevent vapour lock is to fit a fuel bleed return to the tank as
recommended by Rotax. We have had that always on G-KWIP and never had any
problems.
Europa will be issuing a mod to do this as soon as they have sourced a suitable
set of parts and done some tests. They have also anounced that they will release
the design of their cold air box soon.

The most significant mod, anounced today, is the trials of a fully castoring
tailwheel to start soon, very similar to Walter Binder's. I think it will be
very helpful in taming the crosswind take off difficulties that have resulted in
one or two people leaving the runway sideways.

First flight is best performed by a current Europa pilot. The Europa is easy to
fly but not easy to take off and land until familiar with it. Would Gunther
Weinhard do it for you? I would do it if we are there soon enough.
Try to get fixed in your mind the view over the nose on the ground. You will
need to remember it on your first landings. Do the early testing without stall
strips. The plane should take off from the two point (2+ 2X 1/2 !?:-)) attitude
then all you must do is smoothly ease the stick forward. Try to NEVER, NIEMALS!
push the stick forward on or near the ground. If you feel you must, keep a
spare set of Warp Drive blades.

The Arplast PV50 variable pitch prop is working well. It helps greatly in hot,
humid or high conditions. Nice relaxed cruising too. I can recommend it.

You will find that about 1/2 meter from the ground elevator authority is reduced
by ground effect. The nose drops as though the airplane has stalled. It hasn't
and it will BOUNCE if allowed to touch down. Pull the stick back another 5 cm.
to keep flying then wait. The airplane will land itself; you must then keep it
straight.

Avoid flying in cross winds at first and if possible fly as much as possible
---From grass, it is more forgiving than blacktop.

Bis bald, Graham schprechen nur klein bischen Deutsch.
