I have got a digital compass from a well known Mail Order company but I have not tried it in an aircraft yet. It only reads every 5 degrees which may not be accurate enough. But it is easy to read, extremely lightweight and will not endlessly gyrate in turbulent conditions. I seem to remember someone else talking about the same thing about nine months ago.
