should be minimum flange width, you have rebated the glass round the hinges on
both aileron flange and wing flange, so that they can be as close as you like
BUT dont forget when that filler and paint gets stuck on you may have to widen
the gap slightly. One of the main problems with downwards movement is the mass
balances - i had to reposition these on mine to get the full aileron down
movement, once again those layers of glass and paint will eat up any clearance
if you get it 'just right'. make sure you have enough movement (initial
systems check in the manual specifies: aileron t.e. down 20degs +2/-1 deg and
t.e. up 23.5 degs +2/-1 deg) thats with the wings right way up of course!
