Fergus if you are going to do the Mod 52 You really must do it prior to
putting the top fuselage on or you will go mad working over the seat backs
putting the cross tube in .

I did this a while back and am now racking my
brain to remember how I did it.
Firstly it wasn't too difficult to do, but it
helps to know that the bushes in the seat back are
not there to take any structural load but only as
guides for the pins. There is enough "slack" in
the design to allow for the necessary adjustment
when setting up the wing incidence later.
If you haven't already done so, follow the mod
instructions for removing and replacing the bushes
in the wings.Once they are cured you can set about
the fitting the ones in the cockpit module
I cant remember if the holes already in the
cockpit module are big enough to accept the larger
bushes. If they needed enlarging, I probably used
a file, rather than drilling, because it is
important that the centres of each don't move and
my drilling technique often leaves something to be
desired. Once you can fit the bushes in the
cockpit module you can follow the instructions in
the manual (rather than those on the mod sheet but
using the  new parts!!).

Rather than rig everything together with the
module stood on its firewall, I chose to set it
upside down with the seat back vertical and then
set one wing on blocks so that the bushes in the
spar lined up with those in the module and then
with the other wing set on blocks at the tip use a
car jack near the root to raise it until all the
bushes lined up.
I had to do all this outside, and was worried that
if the wind got up the other method could have
ended up with the first flight taking place
without me on board.
Hope this answers your question. If you need some
more details let me know.

Paul

ps if the seat back holes do need enlarging you
could also consider bonding in the 3/8 bushes (one
in each hole will do) with 5min epoxy and then
drilling them out using the supplied guide. My
guide by the way was big enough.
