I'm about to make the fuel return mod which is mandatory for the Rotax.
(had vapour lock my self in the summer just on the beginning of my take
off roll......)
As I have a ELBA fuel flow meter installed right after the electrical
fuel pump, I'm wondering if I have to move the flow sensor into the
engine compartment, behind the fuel return line in order to have exact
measurements. However, with the restrictor of 0,3mm, I suppose only
little fuel will return, and I could as well leave the flow sensor where
it currently is with only minimal effect on accuracy.
Any ideas how much is the typical return flow under normal operation in
cruise? Is it a more or less constant flow? If it's below 1 l/h, I may
just leave the sensor where it is and just adjust the internal
correction factor of the ELBA.
My other question is basic physics: shouldn't the return line feed into
the tank somewhere from the top and not at the bottom as suggested in
the mod? Just had a look at the Katana, where they feed the return also
into the top of the tank.
Thanks and all the best
Klaus
