Whoa now, it's not as simple as that. The off-track signal from the gps is
Very small and you are noticeably off track before it comes out of the noise
and can be used. At that time, if you just feed the off-track error to the
trim motor the aircraft will go on rolling until something or someone stops
it (and it won't be by regaining track ! ) You need to use the roll to
establish an appropriate heading change. This is why you pay more for a
Navaid device and it's Smart Coupler.
Of course if you are up to putting in the necessary circuitry it would be
nice, as it doesn't need panel space, but that's a lot of development work on
a path already trodden.
