I have been told that the Navaid does not particularly like
an out of trim airplane, and hunts a little. It is not clear just
how bad the out of trim needs to be, so we will wait on the trim
installation until after flight testing.
It is our intention to use a spring type trim, if needed, at the
aileron control fork under the pilot's legs (the fork the stick
pivots on). Two springs, one each side of the fork, would
connect to the ends of an arm with a pivot at its center,
with sufficient friction on the center pivot to hold a
particular trim set. This is very similar to an aileron trim
mechanism used on many longEZ's, and I believe the
same or similar to what Kim Prout uses.
We are mounting our Navaid servo to the control
fork under the passenger's legs, inside the storage
compartment closest to the wheel well.
