tailplane kit 458

due to circumstances beyond my control the engagement pin(s) on one side of 
the 
tailplane have become slightly misaligned. this prevents the tailplane 
sliding on cleanly. i tried tweaking the pins ever so slightly but without 
improvement. tried to paint these with engineers blue to ascertain score 
marks but without success 
has this occurred to anyone out there and what was the solution?
practical suggestions would be appreciated
