I have a metal strip that fits over and into the neck of the fuel filler
tube; this strip is connected, outside the neck, by an earth wire that runs
forward to the firewall, where all the panel and engine earthing wires are
connected to a 1" braid that then runs aft to the battery which is below the
baggage bay extension. The earth wire could easily have been taken from the
neck, straight down to the battery.
In addition to the normal airfield refuelling earthing wire that is clipped
onto the exhaust, the refuelling nozzle is also touched onto the metal strip
in the filler neck before fuel starts to flow.
The metal strip used is a short length of the banding strip that is used for
package transport purposes.
