| Gents, It's really just about getting as many molecules of air as possible into the cylinder, add a turbo and you get higher pressure but also a higher temperature arising from the increase of pressure plus the friction from the compressor. The intercooler lowers the temperature again so the same volume of air at x pressure has a lower temperature than without the intercooler and therefore has more molecules.... Does that make sense?
