I just drilled my wings a few weeks ago. The correct location is .5 inch below
the center for the front pin. HOWEVER, this may cause you a problem. When I put
the wings on the fuselage and located them properly, the pin hits the metal
fuselage hard point right at the bottom. Had I drilled the pin in the wing
center
it would have worked a lot better. I'm guessing that my fuselage (a really
early XS kit) had the metal plates located higher than later fuselages. At any
rate, I had to cut both front plates out of the fuselage, then put them back
in lower and slightly forward of their original locations. Rather a pain, but
since you're doing layups inside and out anyway, not really all that much more
work.

Subject: wing plates
I hope the forum is up and running again
I'm about to drill my wing plates, the classic manual indicates the hole
is centred in the plate, the XS fuselage manual drops it 1/2" below the
centre, but the diagram still shows the hole centered - before I do
something I might regret, can anyone confirm that the holes are now below
the centreline.
On the subject of hinge pin bending, I found bending one end in a vice,
then inserting an overlength section of pin in the hinge and bending this
with a tube with an inside diameter similar to the pin worked, then I cut
the overlength section of the pin off
