Cliff,
Hi. People are trying to improve things. I have no useful ideas except to
say that probably the more critical consideration is the easy exit of warm
cooling air. If it can't get out easily it can't get in to do the cooling
in the first place.
Also, if it can't get in smoothly and expand/slow down gradually to recover
the pressure (from the inlet velocity) that can block the inlet with
turbulence. So, look for no sharp corners in the duct and nice smooth inlet
lips.
