And I rember going through my landing checks with some other intruding
gliders around. Unfortunately I did not carry out the actions. Luckily
someone got through to me by radio just before touchdown and I got the wheel
down in time to save the doors and retain a small amount of pride.

Subject: Gear up warning
I agree that it is virtually impossible to land without the flaps down but a
bit more possible to do so without the gear being properly locked. My
excellent PFA coach encouraged me to use a final approach check before
radioing Finals, and I have adopted 'PUFF' - Prop fully fine;
Undercarriage/Flaps down and LOCKED; Fuel pump on. This gives me a greater
feeling of security than a switch warning system and I speak as someone who
managed in his youth to fly 106km for an O/R silver distance in a glider
with the gear down and then carefully raise it before doing an otherwise
immaculate landing bang in front of the club house! Happy landings!
