Something just did not seem right after re-reading my manual and finding
that the text did not match the reference in this message so I asked Neville
what the factory expects us builders to do. He responded (in part) with...
The baggage floor / rear bulkhead should be taped with 2 plies of Bid on...
The upper surface of the floor to the fuselage.
The forward face of the vertical bulkhead to the upper fuselage.
The rear face of the vertical bulkhead to the upper fuselage.
As far as you can reach on the underside of the baggage bay floor [ 6'' to
8'' is enough ].
The reference to page 18-3 is for bonding the rear bulkhead [ aft of the
tailplane torque tube ]....
Note that the erroneous citation (in the original message) from page 18-3
DOES NOT APPLY to the baggage compartment bulkhead. Now I understand why I
could not imagine what "joggle" was referenced (since there is no joggle in
the baggage bay).
It would be very helpful if messages referencing things in the manual
included the date and version of the manual as well as the page number.
Let's not forget that there are several manuals in use depending on which
aircraft is being built: Classic, XS, monowheel, tri-gear, motor glider
wings, most likely with multiple revisions of each, and the various
permutations thereof.
Best regards,

Subject: Both sides of the story
OK ... so, I installed my rear bulk head and moved on, not giving it a
second
thought, when in comes my friend and fellow plane builder. He looks at the
manual and says "when are you going to put the other lay-up on the bulk
head," and I say what lay-up? I'm done.
The manual says: (page 18-3)
Lay-up tapes of 2 plies of bid at +- 45 deg into the corners all around both
sides lapping up to the top of the joggle."
Ahhh there's the problem, He read both sides to mean front and back, and I
took it to mean left and right. John says it has to be front and back would
anyone just lay-up the right or left side? Well, he has me there. So.... Is
it front and back or left and right?
Thanks,
