Carl,

I installed one of the first retrofitted kits into a Classic wing, and the job
was not difficult. Took two of us about a morning, most of which was spent
mulling
over some slightly confusing instructions (which I believe were later modified
for clarity). I found that using the steel tube as a drill worked fine,
and it could be turned by hand easily enough to chew its way through the foam
---From the root up towards the leading edge. Even getting it lined up to meet
the
hole from the Leading Edge wasn't hard.

Only tricky bit I found was getting the small metal tube that you glue into the
leading edge to point in the right direction while the glue was setting. This
is because by the time you've got it all ready to bond in, the hole in the LE
is somewhat larger than the metal tube itself so the metal tube effectively
needs
to be 'potted' in position by the glue. The PVC tube attached to this metal
tube was sufficiently stiff to pull the metal tube into all the wrong positions
while the glue was setting. I eventually solved this by sticking a drill
bit as a tight fit into the front of the metal tube in order to have something
long enough to grab hold of. I then held this drill bit in the right orientation
with an assortment of sticky tape while the glue set.

Minimal damage to paintwork, and flight testing was easy to set it all up. It
works
well and gives very repeatable warnings, at all weights and angles of bank.
You can set it up however you like in terms of how many knots above the stall
it goes off.

Give me a call if you want to ask more.

Has anyone installed the Europa factory stall warner kit on a classic
Europa.

We have decided that this is preferable to the stall strips which the PFA
insists on but a little concerned that we may end up damaging a lovely paint
job.

Drilling two holes (one from leading edge and one from wing root) in the
hope that they will meet up seems a little hit and miss though admittedly
cant think of a better way of doing this. Unfortunately you only get one
chance of getting it right.

We would appreciate any advice / comments from anyone who has already done
this mod, thereby increasing our chances success.
