Hi,
I fitted my column with the longer part down and also fitted one of those 
contoured wooden things on top with PTT button.  Everything seemed OK ...  
until ... after fitting the control panel, I couldn't get 'full and free' at 
maximum forward/port extension (passenger side).  I had to trim off some of 
the wood.  Bear in mind though, that you get less movement on the stick when 
plane is fully rigged.
