Tony,
        Sit in you seat and you may find that the shorted length needs to
be on top.  The offset needs to clear the seat and your lap. Then into
your stomach!!  Remember that the stick pivots way down and you are in
the arc  when moving the stick rearward.  If the pivot was closer / under
you , you could get by with a shorter stick.
