A further piece of fuel system trivia may be of interest.
I substituted the kit supplied fuel filters with an Andair gascolator
during my initial build. The Andair is mounted adjacent to the fuel pump
and has performed satisfactorily. I see a minimal amount of trash during
routine maintenance checks.
However, I did have a minor problem. I installed water drains from the
fuel tank as per the factory option and I also fitted a similar water
drain from the Andair bowl. Each of these goes to individual CAV-110
drain valves on the lower fuselage. I have found that fine trash from
the Andair collects on the face of the drain valve 'O' ring and causes a
very slow weep which has left a stain on the paintwork. The fix has been
to put one of the original cartridge filters between the Andair bowl and
the drain valve. No problems now - no drips.
