Unable to help with the exhaust hitting the cowl without seeing how your
cowl fits in general.  I have an Airmaster prop and managed to get it clear
of the exhaust on my 914.

The three cuts in the CD1 allow the flap to be bent up to provide a jet of
cold air to the turbo of the 914.  They are not needed on the 912.
