Hi Pete
Rotax allow a max inlet temp of 72c (160F) or 88c (190F) depending on
the serial number of the TCU, I have never exceeded 50C so far with
normal cruise being about 35C

Hi David
As a matter of interest do Rotax publish a limit for turbo inlet
temperature
and do you monitor it?

Darin, The warning and alarm limits for 914 EGTs given by Rotax in the
Flydat manual are 880 & 900 degrees Centigrade respectively. Mine
usually
run around the 700 mark with the rear pair being perhaps 60 deg hotter.
880C. is 1616F, and 760 is 1400F so you haven't exceeded limits but
seem to
be running hotter than I do. But on the other hand if you are just doing
ground runs you aren't getting much in the way of cooling, & new engines
also run relatively hot until they have polished all the rough surfaces
off
a bit. Regards, David Joyce, G-XSDJ
