Hi Graeme,
If I read it correctly, you haven't fitted the spinner backplate to the fro
nt face of the engine prop flange yet ? Bolt the spinner backplate on.
The spinner backplate is about 1'' deep, shim that with 3 mixing sticks bet
ween the rear of the spinner backplate to the front of the cowl, there is y
our overlap onto the fuselage !
I use a similar process to Bud, tape the fuselage with masking tape.Mark a
line at the fuselage joggle of the cowl line edge and use a flexi ruler or
similar spline,to mark a line paralell to the joggle line the width of the
ruler aft.
Fit the top cowl with the 3 mix sticks shim between the cowl and back of th
e spinner backplate. Tape the aft edge of the cowl onto the fuselage, check
ing the bottom edge of the cowl is level [ reference the fuselage top / bot
tom join line if still visable, or the top of the footwells] and use the sa
me ruler / spline to transfer the line on the fuselage forward onto the cow
l..... simples !
Cheers,
Nev.

thanks Bud, I think I get the drift of most of it, one thing worries me now

hough is that you mention a spinner to cowl gap of 1/8th I just don't have

nough cowl to do that, I am going to end up with around 1/2". The top is
esting on the shaft of the 912S prop plate butted up to the back of the pro
p
olts and I only have 1/8th of the cowl on the port side to cut off. Is a 3/
8th
ap going to matter?
