In the Schicke provided diagram the fuse (0.5amp) is in the line to pin 4,
which is the voltage sense pin. Our (LAA) circuit puts the fuse in the line
to "Gen Led" only providing the protection intended. In the Schicke setup
if the fuse goes the regulator does not "see" the output voltage so it
increases it. We have had a report that this fried the battery in one
installation. The sense line should never be disconnected.

You are right there is no reason you need the LED anyway.

Ian,

Thanks for the heads-up. Just found the listing on the LAA website this
evening. That's a tough site on which to navigate or find anything.

I installed the Schicke GR6 this morning. Since I hadn't located the Mod
till this evening, I used the Schicke supplied circuit diagram of course.

What is the reasoning behind the changes made by the LAA?

I had also installed a B&C under/over voltage warning circuit so that makes
the LED in the Schicke circuit redundant. Do you know if it is necessary
for the function of the regulator? I would think not.

I haven't had an opportunity to run the engine to check it out yet.
Hopefully tomorrow morning.

At long last!

You will be pleased to know that the Schicke GR6 voltage regulator has been
approved.

The Mod details are in the Rotax standard mods section on the LAA web site
Number, SM12970

Note that the circuit diagram differs slightly from the diagram supplied by
Schicke. The LAA circuit should be used.
