Hi Ron,
I used the Europa system and it's really easy and works very well. Very
effective. No problems.

Regards,
Keith

Subject: Europa-List: Bleeding Monowheel Brakes: Curious?

Hi Group

I have an XS Monowheel with stock caliper and master cylinder.

I purchased a bleed kit from Europa which includes a screw in funnel and
syringe, but haven't quite gotten to bleeding brakes (closer than further
though).

I was reading how some bicycles with single shot master cylinders bleed
brakes without making a much of a mess and getting out air in a hurry.

Two questions:

1) Does Europas funnel and syringe do an adequate job?

2) If the answer to question 1) is marginal, do you think bicycle bleed may
work better?:
I can scan and post exact procedure if anyone is interested (please just
ask). Gist is as follows:
** Bicycles use 2 syringes, one for caliper and one for caliper.
** The syringes both have a clamp/valve to close hose (squeeze hose and
pinch it off)
** The caliper syringe has a hose that will allow it to make a 180 degree
bend. Idea is you keep hose straight with syringe at bottom of hose, close
clamp, pull vacuum, tap and let air rise to top of hose. Keep doing this
until most air bubbles gone. Then p[urge air and connect to caliper bleed.
** On this bike system they had you rubber-band lever fully depressed (I
didn't ever look close enough at Europa to see if this is valid).
They then connect a syringe to the opening of the master cylinder.
** They then clamp master cylinder syringe
** They then make a 180 bend on caliper syringe and begin pulling a vacuum
and pushing, tapping things along the way until you get most of the air
stuck under the syringe piston (clever!)
** Then they release clamp on master cylinder and push caliper syringe till
you fill master cylinder syringe about half way
** Then clamp caliper syringe and begin pulling suction and pressurizing and
tapping master cylinder syringe until most bubbles gone
** Replace plug on caliper
** Top master cylinder and replace plug

OK, what says you? Stick with Europa system of bleeding, or bicycle
technique may have some validity?

Sincerely
Ron Parigoris
