Dot 5 is the best for our little aircraft. Yet I have 5606 in my aircraft.
5606 only works in systems designed for mineral oil based fluid such as
Matco and Grove systems. Anything automotive is normally the standard Dot
3-4-5 types. Don't mix fluids, ever.
That said: Flushing out the lines, calipers, park brake and reservoir is a
chore. In any flush, if you choose to flush with Dot 5, the silicone can
get clumpy if you mix it with 5606. Then you have a disaster.
According to ASA: Naptha or Varsol are used to flush 5606. 5606 is mineral
based based so Naptha will keep the seals in the calipers in shape.
In automotive systems where hydraulic fluid is added accidentally to a DOT
fluid system, alcohol is recommended by automotive sites. It normally will
not hurt the caliper seals and it disolves oil based contamination. Use
about 20 psi air or more of dry air to blow out the lines and calipers.
This is messy to say the least. Wash everything afterwards, the plane, you
and the interior.
Then go ahead and reassemble the lines and push copious amounts of DOT 5
through the system calipers and lines into a clear bucket to verify the
fluid is clean and clear. Then get the brake system ready for bleeding
again. Bench bleed your master or just use my website techniques procedure
to re-bleed.
That is about all I know.

I had to get a new set of plungers and seals as I ruined the last set in the
Jamar cylinder by usingthe 5605 fluid Grove recommends. So now I need to
drain an clean the rEst of the lines to use the silicone DOT 5 fluid. Do
you have a recommendation for what to use to flush the MIL-5606 out. I
don't think I want to mix the DOT 5 with the 5606 residue.
