David, I'd always agree concerning the KISS. But this is a safety feature with a weight penalty of just 0,2kg. You have a Smart Ass installed, right? You have a complex 914 instead of a much more simple 912.... With the standard wiring I switched off the alternator master on the ground and the engine started cauthing after some time, maybe due to the low RPM. To each his own....
