Hadn't thought about that, I didn't like the possibility of extra wear and
tear on the rudder hinge and flanges. I agree about straight ahead being
important.

There is very little deflection, so not much friction.

Taxied it today, seems to work fine. The little wheel skids on wet grass,
as you'd expect. Spring tension probably needs to be quite high to prevent
too much wheel deflection due to the effect of steering loads on the wheel.
