Thanks to everyone who sent me helpful suggestions on how best to do the
tail wheel mod closeout layup.
Its now done, and looks very strong I'm pleased to say. I had however made
it a bit more difficult for myself by having fitted a trim tab push rod
containment bulkhead (to stop lateral movement of push rod when rigging).
This got in the way a bit and made the working area even more difficult.
My question for today concerns fitting the Rotax 912 engine. It is
necessary to rotate the water pump inlet/outlet pipes to clear the engine
mount.
I have used the (I think Graham Singleton's) idea of an expanding masonary
bolt in the pipe for grip, and lots of heat from a hot air gun but can't
budge the first pipe I've tried working on.
My question is just how much heat is needed, and should I get my propane
burner on the pipe/housing!!! It is quite an expensive item to damage.
Hope to meet some of you at the Cranfield PFA Rally 3, 4, 5 July
