My opinion:
Anodise all small aluminum parts after finishing (according to the spec
Andy mentioned ) , steel parts should be acid cleaned, degassed ( it's the
acid cleaning that causes hydrogen embrittlement apparently) then zinc or
cadmium plate. Not practical on the long tubes of course. Put ACF 50, LPS
or Corrosion X inside all the push rods and make all metal to metal joints
with chromate jointing paste. Duralac is one.
