Adding a structure underneath the door lip at this point doesn't
actually interfere with the pilot. In fact, if you built up a box
section around 5cm deep I found that it removes the sharp lip that can
be annoying on occasions.

I did this when I installed the Jacobson/Shaw third shoot bolt system
into my doors. With the third shoot bolt in place the doors no longer
feel like flexible structures.
