Hello,

My name is Matt Carpenter and I live in Amarillo, Texas.

3 of us purchased the Europa XS A138 Tri-gear from Bill Richards who lives
in NH.
We have been flying it for 9 or so months.

Bill Richards built it, then decided he needed a 4 seat airplane.

I have been reading the archives for 6 - 8 months now, and decided it was
time to join.

I have one big question:

The engine is the Rotax 914 S Turbo. The manual says it should hold 35
inches of MP up to 16,000 MSL.
But, I have noticed that at 9,500 MSL the MP is down to 30 - 29 inches.
At 11,500 MSL the MP is down to 27 - 28 inches.
Currently I am getting around 130 - 131 knots true airspeed. If I could
keep the MP up then the true airspeed should increase at the higher
altitude.

I have a few ideas about it.. 1. Not enough fuel pressure (although there
is no engine roughness - no change when I turn on the aux pump)
                             2. Waste gate not fully closing (the engine was
prepared by Rotax for an airport at 300 MSL, I am at 3,650 MSL)
                             3. Engine needs "re-tuned" for higher
elevation.

Any ideas, would be great.

Thanks,

Matt Carpenter
