Thanks everyone for the advice.  

Last night, I strapped it up with 6 ratchet straps to see how much of the front
edge I can remove.  If I grind a few remaining mm down on the lip as Graham 
suggests
I think I'll get away with it.  

I'm reluctant to replace all three windows and getting a colour match for the 
others
isn't that likely.
