I dont have the manual, thats why i'm guessing !

Didnt mean the overflow pipe but the section between the return manifold 
(where all the outputs from cyl heads come together) and the expansion tank 
(where the pressure cap is fitted). On mine it is a section of pipe about 4 
inches long, but I believe mine is a one off. Our engine is the original 
engine fitted to G-YURO (must be about 12 years old).

There is almost certainly be a pressure differential between these two 
points because they are short circuiting the radiators. It might be 
necessary to clamp the upstream radiator hose initially to purge any air 
---From the carb heater system.

No doubt i'm reinventing the wheel.

As you say, read the instructions. (but I dont have a copy?)
