Carl,
You worry too much. Just follow the instructions from Skydrive. There is no
need to drain the system, just a topup to replace spilled coolant. I used a
large vise for pushing on the heater bodies, a job which took about 10
minutes. Be sure everything is square, then just turn the handle and keep it
moving slowly and steadily.
So far I had no problems with hot starting, but then I usually open the
inspection doors on top of the cowling if it is just a refuelling stop.
