I suspect this is about the third round of these discussions in the last couple of years and the only new information available to us is the recent experience of the factory aircraft G-KITS. To my mind this does not help greatly as they did not tell us what type of gascolator was in use nor more importantly when it was last inspected relative to the described flight. What many appear to have in mind if going down the single gascolator route is meticulous care with the fuel going in followed by regular (if not pre every flight) checking of the gascolator filter. Whether this is more or less likely to avoid fuel starvation than a dual gascolator / filter system I don't think we have the data to answer. In the end those of us who are modifying the factor supplied system are going to have to make a value judgement on simplicity vs complexity redundancy and weight assuming our modifications satisfy the PFA / EAA regards Paul Stewart#432 |
