For treating firewall areas i would not use the butyl matting product... there is a much lighter product in the DCI line that is a dacron weave with 3M adhesive and foil shielding; it's primarily a medium level heat shield and acoustic isolator for OEM automotive under roof paneling; weighs almost nothing and is perfect for the firewall and upper engine cowl lid... it can be purchased direct in 1000x1000 size sheets.
